The final look of Rachel Hayes' brow makeover at NYC's tenoverten salon.

I must have picked up some makeover karma from my How Now Bold Brows post because I literally just walked into an ambush-style brow makeover. Sally Hansen has been graciously treating editors to manicures and pedicures this summer at NYC’s posh tenoverten salon. When I showed up the other day, they also had makeup artist Solé on hand for brow touch-ups. Of course, I signed up immediately and started gabbing about all the great bold brow looks. Solé took one look at me and suggested I try I brow tinting. Many makeup artists have suggested this before because my brows are so blonde, they can be nonexistent (as seen in my sexy “before” pic). Even though I shade them with brow pencil or tinted gel, sometimes I’m too rushed (or lazy) and skip that step. Brow tinting would ensure that they’re always there no matter what, so I went for it.

Here’s what happened: First, Solé mixed up the dye solution, choosing a dark blonde that matches my roots.  She carefully combed it along my brows (see the lovely caterpillar brow pic above?), waited a few minutes, then wiped off the dye with warm water. Wowa! All of a sudden, I could see that I actually have way more brows than I ever realized. I’ll admit, my arches did seem a little dark in the beginning, but I’m on day two now and can’t believe I waited this long to try it. Not only is brow tinting good for blondes, but also for women with dark brows and fair skin who show bare spots easily. I’m hooked! Now I see how it’s such a time saver in the morning and also makes going without a lot of makeover even easier.
