It’s starting to feel a lot like fall—and I think I’m ready for it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll squeeze every second out of summer and will cry the day it’s too cold to wear sandals, but NYC can be very energizing in September. Kids are back at school, everyone’s rejuvenated from their vacations, Fashion Week flies through Lincoln Center, social calendars start to fill up—as you know, it’s non-stop until the holidays.
There’s nothing like trying out a few new trends to get you in that fall mood. Check out this Fall 2013 fashion week beauty trend round up I did for MSN’s Glo.com, Autumn Influences. One of my faves: this mod liner look makeup artist Pat McGrath created on model Karlie Kloss for the Anna Sui Fall 2013 fashion show. This graphic cat eye with a dotted lash line (à la Twiggy) and mega mascara made a doll-like dramatic effect, but you could easily tone it down by making one continuous black line under the eyes. The great twist of this look is a swipe of shimmery white liner under the lower waterlines. It brightens up the black liner and gives it a bit of a futuristic look. For women who find it really hard to wear dark eye makeup, this could be a good technique. Try: Cover Girl Ink It! in Black, $6.50, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese, $4.50.
