Post-Holiday Rx: Best Overnight Beauty Treatments

The holidays are a magical time, but the minute the last houseguest leaves, don’t you feel somewhat relieved it’s all over? Yes, we love our family, we love Santa, we love to eat, drink and be merry. But, payback is a bitch. I’m talking about exhausting post-party house cleaning, travel stress, and a ridiculous carbo-loading addiction. It all adds up looking rundown, bloated and ragged.

Now that everyone is gone and it’s (thankfully) time to refind a routine, one of the first things to focus on is getting a good night’s sleep. It’s not just a luxury, but a necessity to recuperate inside and out. Your body spends its waking hours fighting to keep up with all the demands put on it. At night, sleep mode is repair mode. There’s a slew of new overnight beauty treatments that are designed to enhance your body’s natural renewal  process while you sleep. In addition to the anti-aging benefits, the routine of slathering on these scrumptious overnight skincare treatments also helps your mind transition from a crazy busy day mind frame  to a  restful nighttime state, helping you to drift off to sleep even easier. So, here are some of my favorite overnight beauty treatments:

Darphin Ideal Resource Light Re-Birth Overnight Cream, $90. Growing up in France, Darphin was one of the first skincare lines I ever tried and I’ll always love because  it is such a pleasure to use. This new  night cream has a 100% natural fragrance of white flowers and neroli essential oil that soothes your senses and helps switch your skin to nighttime repairing mode. Salicylic and pyruvic acids help improve cell renewal while powerful antioxidants stimulate your skin’s natural production of collagen.

Talika Eye Dream, $57. I stash this in my bedside table and swirl it around my eyes right before I turn off the lights. The first time I used it, my husband looked at me inquisitively. My reply: “You should be excited. You’re going to wake up with a younger (looking) girl in your bed!” The cooling metal roller ball relaxes the eye contour area while the massaging action helps flush out toxins and water retention. The soothing serum is loaded with regenerative ingredients such as algae extract (calming)
, vitamin F (prevents dehydration),
soybean protein extract  (increases oxygen consumption), and peptides (strengthen and comfort the skin). P.S.  The eye contour area loses more than 50% of its moisture while you sleep, so this is a super important nighttime skincare step.

Amorepacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque, $60. This new overnight mask treatment is invisible, so it won’t ruin your sheets (or scare your husband). It contains a hydrating complex that stimulates hyaluronic acid production to prevent moisture loss which causes skin aging. It also infuses your skin with antioxidants and moisturizers so you wake up glowing.

ESPA Pink Hair & Scalp Mud, $69. Your hair needs a little extra TLC at night too. Once a month, I’ll put on a nourishing hair mask and leave it on overnight. This one has mineral rich red clays, vitamin C-rich watercress and apricot kernel oil, which all work together to soothe, nourish and stimulate your hair and scalp. It’s perfect for all hair types, especially dry, weak, heat or chemically treated hair.

Iluminage Skin Rejuvenating Pillowcase, $60. This silky soft pillowcase is made with fibers that are embedded with copper oxide, which has been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. As you sleep, your skin absorbs the copper ions which help support your skin’s natural self-renewal process, repairing damaged collagen and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It’s machine-washable.
