The three best wool coats that will keep you warm and stylish this winter season.

Arctic Chic: Best Winter Coats

Right before the holidays, we sat down with Genevieve Monsma, Beauty Director of MORE magazine, for a supermom interview. Her full post will be up soon, but the sudden arrival of this polar vortex weather has made one of her fashion tips about winter coats particularly poignant. “In New York City, we don’t drive around in cars, we walk around with our bodies. That means that our coats are really like our cars and you want it to project a certain image. You don’t want to be driving around in a bland unmemorable rental. You want to show up in a Jaguar,” she said.

So now that the arctic chill has gusted down upon us, we were inspired to pick out of a few luxe coats that will keep you warm without sacrificing any style.

ALL-WEATHER COATS:
From snow storms, freezing rain and below-zero wind chills, these  all-weather jackets will make you feel stylish and trendy despite any curve-balls mother nature throws at you. (Shown from left to right.)

Our picks for the 3 best all-weather jackets that will keep you warm and stylish this winter.

1. BCBGMAXAZRIA Long Anorak Jacket with Fur Trim, $349
The removable fur lining makes this jacket very versatile for bundled up winter days or more mild spring weather. It also has a zip compartment at the collar for an optional hood, just in case you unexpectedly get caught in the rain.
2. Calvin Klein Hooded Down Puffer Maxi Coat, $180
As Genevieve wisely says, “It’s awkward when you have five inches of your skirt or dress sticking out under the bottom of your coat. Invest in a maxi coat that goes past your knees so you stay warmer and also protect your clothes.” This Calvin Klein maxi coat fits the bill and cinches at the waist for a chic look.
3. Marc New York Down Coat-Fur Trim Puffer, $290
Most puffer coats make you look like a marshmallow, swallowing up the curves of your silhouette. We love the belt on this puffer coat that gives it more of a sleekening shape. It has also an extra lining to keep you warm without bulking up your body.

JUST COLD (NOT BELOW FREEZING OR RAINING) COATS:
On days when regular winter weather is all you have to deal with (cold temps, sunny days), try a classic wool coat that’ll keep you warm, stylish and ready to go anywhere. Shown at top, from left to right:
1. French Connection Lana Speckled Belted Coat, $330
Want to break free from classic black? Try a chic print, like this black and white woven speckled knit coat. We love the robe-like relaxed shape that accommodates bulky sweaters or a blazer, while the belt dresses it up.
2. J.Crew Double-Cloth Lady Day Coat with Thinsulate, $365
Stand out in bright red! The lady-like silhouette with a round collar compliments the pop of color perfectly. Dress it up with a LBD or dress it down with weekend jeans.
3. Cole Haan Black Wool Blend Asymmetrical Belted Button Front Coat, $265
Every woman must have a classic black wool coat to dress up any outfit. This Cole Haan black wool blend coat is chic and the asymmetrical buttons gives it a unique twist. It also has a belt at the waist and some flare at the bottom to accentuate your body shape.
