I Love It: Pantene Heat Shield

Today’s weather forecast projects a high of 36ºF (real feel 25ºF), which I actually consider “warmer” weather these days. But it’s nowhere near anything pleasant outside! This Polar Vortex has made it impossible to not blow-dry your hair as soon as you get out of the shower, just to get warm and dry ASAP. But unfortunately, relentless heat styling will damage your hair’s outer cuticle, causing it to become damaged, brittle and dry. Enter my latest obsession: Pantene Heat Shield Shampoo, Conditioner and Heat Potion Serum, ($4-$7). The conditioner and the serum contain weightless heat-activated oils that provide a protective layer to shield your hair from heat damage up to 450 degrees (though you should never really be using tools that are that hot). The shampoo and conditioner are amazing, but my favorite is the serum. Rub a pea size dab of it between your palms, then run your hands over damp hair and blast away the blowdryer. It’ll make your hair really shiny and soft, without weighing it down. In fact, sometimes I can stretch an extra day out of my blowout when I use the serum. It’s definitely a drugstore must-have for me.
